Instructional Designers’ Field Guide

Project Update

Welcome to the prototype companion site for The Instructional Designers’ Field Guide, a graduate capstone project at California State University, Monterey Bay. This site was originally developed as part of a multimedia design course and now serves as a digital sandbox for exploring design elements, content structures, and interactive tools that may eventually appear in the final published Field Guide or website.

Because the Field Guide aims to bridge instructional theory with real-world practice, each page in this site demonstrates potential components—ranging from tool demos to process walk-throughs—all rooted in the needs of early-career instructional designers.

After exploring this site, users will be able to:

1. Summarize in 2-3 sentences the stated goals and purpose of The Instructional Designers' Field Guide based on information presented on the Home and About pages.

2. Demonstrate use of at least two interactive elements to explore how instructional design concepts are represented on the site.

3. Apply at least one concept or design shared in the examples of interactive media (videos, accordions, or image hovers) to explain how multimedia elements can enhance instructional engagement.
